Honey is a 7-month old Chihuahua and Shih Tzu cross who is being fostered in RCT, South Wales. When she first came into rescue she was quite skittish, but as the weeks have gone on she has settled in to family life well. Now she is a fluffy, snuggly little girl who’s tail doesn’t stop wagging! Honey is happy around people and has been around children of various ages. We recommend that any children in the home are 8 years old and above, purely as she is a little nervy. When people come to the house she will initially bark at them but before long is jumping up at them wanting to be picked up.
Honey is great around other dogs and lives with a range of ages and breeds in her foster home. She will grumble at them when they approach her and she has a chew, or if she is eating her dinner. Not tested around cats but young enough to learn. Housetraining is a work in progress but she is a fast learner and will use puppy pads. She has been left for five hours on one occasion and she was fine with other dogs for company, but given her age this should not be done on a regular basis. She is happy to be crated too. Honey is a very slow eater and needs to be given time and space to eat so that she isn’t distracted.
Honey came in with a cough so her vaccinations were delayed while this was treated. Now on the mend, she will start her course of vaccinations and can start to enjoy regular walks. Adopters must be willing to work with Honey with lead training and build her confidence as she can be quite jumpy. We feel that a family home with older children who are around for most of the day would suit Honey, or a young retired couple or home where she has canine or human company, would be ideal for her. The adopters would have to be willing to attend older puppy classes with her to work on her training and socialisation.
Honey is microchipped and will be up to date with her vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, before going to her new home. She will also be spayed. Potential adopters are expected to travel to meet Honey in her foster home in RCT, South Wales.
If you are interested in adopting Honey please read about our rehoming process and complete a Pre-Adoption form ( link here ) and one of our adoption coordinators will contact you for a chat.
